Coastal Farmland Trust (CFT) is a newly formed nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating long-term, secure, and affordable land tenure for the next generations of farmers in Northwest Washington. We envision a future where diverse local farms thrive while stewarding the land and producing abundant, healthy food.

Traditional land trusts typically work with current landowners to conserve existing farms, but they rarely address the barrier faced by new and expanding farmers. Land prices in Washington make buying or expanding a farm impossible for many farmers, even those with off-farm income. What happens when farmers can’t afford to own land to begin with?
